CAREER & TECHNICAL TRAINING

There is a significant need for additional career and technical training opportunities in Collier County and throughout Southwest Florida. While Lorenzo Walker and Immokalee Technical Colleges provide a significant amount of training they are unable to increase their footprint. This would provide for the construction of an additional training center for the residents of the Community.


PROJECT GOALS:  


  • Construct a career and technical training center for multiple providers such as Collier County Public Schools, the Florida state college and university systems, local colleges and other universities to provide a space for classroom and hands-on training in a variety of fields, including advance manufacturing and skilled trades to primary employ

  

PROJECT FEATURES:  


  • Facility would be located on the Florida SouthWestern State College Collier Campus  
  • Lab space for hands-on training in advanced manufacturing, skilled trades  
  • State-of-the art equipment/technology to teach adult learners on new/emerging trends in their trade  
  • Permanent home of the Southwest Florida Manufacturing Excellence Center  
  • LEED certified “Green Building”  
  • CareerSource of Southwest Florida advisor/counselor onsite


COSTS AND FUNDING:  


  • Current budget estimate of $15 million  
  • Land would be provided as a matching resource from Florida SouthWestern State College-Collier Campus  
  • Opportunity for private sector support  
  • Ongoing O&M will be provided by instructional program funding.

  • To be determined contingent on adequate funding
